First years make DoMS proud

We, the first year MBA students have the first event of our department “Confluencia 2010” to our credit. Nevertheless, I should mention that the real reason behind its success were our seniors. It was Anuj Sir’s immense hard work and calm, composed attitude, Varun Sir’s tactical way of getting the things done, Arushi Ma’am’s 'anything not less than perfect' attitude, Pooja Ma’am’s awesome literary skills and Amal Sir’s cool way of finishing the things up, that became our inspiration to make Confluencia’10 a success. They made us aware of how the events in our department are organized and how our HOD Sir, Prof. V.K. Nangia likes the things to be done.

Confluencia 2010, with the theme as Goal Oriented Functional Integration in Business aimed to understand the importance of functional integration in different department of an organization in order to realize the goal of the organization. With difficult years behind us, the question now facing everyone is how to effectively apply functional integration in Business. As the urgent and complex problems are fast gripping the world, the imperative for functional integration is growing even stronger.

The professors of the coveted IIT Roorkee along with other speakers from the industry and academia outlined for us how the challenges are being handled and should be handled in the future; countering the difficulties they face outside and inside the business domain, the lessons learnt and the benefits derived.

The event, as intended, was an absorbing learning environment for all the participants. It was a great experience to have an interaction with such eminent personalities like Mr. Dinesh Jain(CEO, Zee Turner), Mr.Rakesh Kohli(CEO, Stag International) and so on. But a special mention for Dr. Sanjeev Prashar who addressed the participants with some very enlightening concepts of segmentation in marketing and shared some real life examples in the area of telecom with us. He connected so well with everyone that his audience was driven to give a standing ovation. I would also like to mention Mr. Vikrant Chowdary’s immensely interesting way of teaching. I must say he held his audience very well.

Basically I would like to say that the two day experience was very enlightening. Not just that, but being a part of the organizing team was also very exciting. Our first event at DOMS IIT Roorkee and the thrill for it was something in itself. Reporting for work at 7 am sharp, the decorations and all the arrangements was fun too. I would like to just say that the event was a complete hit! Our HOD Sir was really happy with the flawless organization of the event. And the event culminated with our HOD Sir declaring a party for us as a token of appreciation. Such acknowledgement always boosts your confidence.

So, stretched thumbs up for the two very exciting and enlightening days of Confluencia 2010. It sure was a memorable weekend for me. :-)
